Gift card honorees

The Sheriff's Employee Benefit Association (SEBA) and San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools celebrated the partnership between law enforcement and education by recently awarding $4,000 worth of gift cards to 16 teachers at Adelanto High School and Hook Junior High.

The two Victor Valley Union High School District schools were among 10 in the county chosen by SEBA because they work with School Resource Officers (SROs) to keep their campuses and communities safe.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Sgt. Grant Ward, the SEBA President, presented the gift cards to school staff, including principals Ebony Purcell and Carlos Cerna. He was joined by deputies from the Victorville and Victor Valley stations along with Superintendent Dr. Ron Williams, district cabinet, and a representative for County Superintendent Ted Alejandre.

The teachers (eight from each school) can use the $250 gift cards for whatever they want. Both schools chose the winning educators (including counselors) with input from their peers, for demonstrating commitment to students and a positive school culture.

From Adelanto, the honorees are: Janice Betian, Stefanie Blue, Nicholas Gaspar, Brian Geary, Jennifer Parra, Joshua Silva, Staci Stewart, and Jose Villafuerte.

From Hook, the winners are: Megail Counts, Ken Kamiyama, Kristina Kamiyama, Kristina Madrigal, Erica Moeller, Marta Kapelos, Michelle Rask, and James Shanklin.

Congratulations and thank you to our outstanding educators!
